2024 Apprenticeship Programme – Estimating – London Heathrow Airport (September start)

In Estimating, you will assist the estimating team in the creation of estimates by ensuring the estimate is completed in line with Mace procedures. You will learn about the use of estimating tools, and develop an appreciation of different contract and procurement types as well as knowledge of construction methods.

Role

  • Supporting the identification and management of risk
  • Liaising with other members of the bid or design team as appropriate to ensure that all aspects of the scope are considered.
  • Supporting the requirement for maintaining detailed benchmarking data for use both internally in support of adjudications or externally to clients.
  • Presenting the analysis of material and sub contract to the estimating lead in the production of an accurate estimate.
  • Assisting in administrative tasks for Estimators and Pre-Construction team members.
  • Supporting the team preparing estimates.
  • Using digital measurement tools for quantity take-off in a manner and level of detail consistent with the project goals.
  • Inputting estimate data into appropriate software.
  • Assisting with feasibility studies, writing and undertaking estimate reports.
  • Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.

Training

  • Our structured training programme will teach you technical and business skills to help you succeed in your career.
  • The estimating assistant apprenticeship working towards the Business Administrator Level 3 qualification which consists of work-based experience and training.

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be eligible for membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) within six years. This alongside our bespoke training programme will help set you up for a successful future with Mace.

Monday - Thursday, 9.00am - 5:30pm. Friday, 9.00am - 4:30pm. Due to the nature of construction you may be expected to work additional hours. Whilst working on site typical start time is at 8.00am instead of 9.00am.
