Apprentice Inspector
Role
The aim of the apprenticeship program with Manthorpe Engineering is to train people to become skilled Inspectors who can then build a successful career within the company.
To achieve this the apprentice will be paired with an experienced Inspector who will ensure their skills and knowledge are developed alongside their college based training.
This process will involve on the job training and will include a wide variety of inspection techniques:
- Shadowing and working alongside our experienced Inspection team performing tasks as follows:

- Inspection of simple and complex parts and assemblies for the Aerospace, Nuclear and Defence industries
- CMM Inspection, including online and offline programming
- Manual Inspection techniques working to fist principles
- Visual inspection
- Documentation Review
Training
Level 3 Engineering Technician apprenticeship standard, including Functional Skills if required.
- Tech cert : This programme includes Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Technical Knowledge)
- BTEC Diploma Edexcel L3 and Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence) Diploma L2
This programme is delivered via a day release delivery model which means that one day per week, your attendance is required at our Engineering campus, NG17. This attendance is required during term time only.
You will work with expert assessors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession.
You will experience a blended learning model.
You will gather learning evidence, journals and off-the-job records using your e-portfolio.
At the end of the planned learning period, it will be agreed that you are ready to enter 'Gateway' and for your End Point Assessment to be arranged.
On completion of the apprenticeship it is expected that the qualified apprentice will be competent within inspection activities whilst working unsupervised, (although guidance and training will still be available).
We have a graded pay scale to reward further progression reflecting skills and experience. The business also has a track record of apprentices progressing to other roles (i.e. manufacturing engineering, sales, etc) as opportunities arise.
