Software Engineer

An exciting opportunity to work as a Software Engineer improving reliability and reducing technical debt in our Simulation Software Department. You will be working in an agile manner, close to your customers and in a key position to learn about a range of products.

Salary: Circa £64,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 5 days per week on-site due to workload classification (Bristol based)

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who will take ownership of the stability and quality of our products - used to ensure the reliability of our Command-and-Control Systems. This role centres on resolving complex issues, improve system reliability and reducing technical debt - by identifying root causes and implementing durable fixes.

You'll develop deep knowledge of our architecture and play a key role in making the platform reliable, resilient, and easier for the rest of the engineering team to build on.

The work you'll do directly affects customer experience, engineering velocity, and overall product health.

What we're looking for from you:
  • Previous Software Engineering Experience
  • Prior experience with the Ada programming language is key to supporting our products
  • Experience of working within an Agile development environment
  • Working with CI/CD pipelines including writing of Automated Test Scripts
  • A willingness to build deep system architecture understanding
  • Experience of performance tuning and root-cause analysis.
