Software Group Lead Software Resource and Capability

This is an opportunity to lead, support and grow a new group of software engineers delivering and supporting the Test Equipment Resource and Capability group within Bolton

Salary: circa £75,000 Depending on Experience

Hybrid working pattern: Where possible, we will seek to accommodate a blended approach to on-site and remote working.

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to lead, support and grow a new group of software engineers delivering and supporting the Test Equipment Resource and Capability group within Bolton but also in Stevenage.

  • This is a people leadership role where you have the responsibility for ensuring that software development teams have the capability, skills and capacity to support the business in delivering its commitments.  You will favour collaborative, open approaches and have the ability to inspire others to achieve and exceed common goals and objectives. 
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills combined with developing long-term relationships with stakeholders across the international software directorate and other business area are key to success in the role.

  • You will have a major role in supporting the manufacturing line in integrating new Test Equipment (TE) solutions but also help in the gathering of real user requirements to build better solutions.
  • There will be opportunities to collaborate and work with colleagues within the UK and at our sites in France and Italy.
  • A chance to input and shape how Test Equipment Software is developed at MBDA

What we're looking for from you:

  • Being passionate about people – keen to understand what motivates your team and looking to encourage and inspire them to grow.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate and influence others is essential.
  • Comfortable coaching, mentoring and leading managers; your team of managers are responsible for delivery of software products into complex programmes where the software is a critical element.
  • Ideally (but not essential) you will have a degree in an engineering, science or maths discipline combined with experience in the development of product software.
  • Comfortable with change and understands the importance of continuous improvement within a modern software development team.
