Service Engineer
Job Description
We are looking for a hands-on Service Engineer to join their team, keeping critical plant and equipment running across sites in Northern Ireland with additional requirements for work at sites in Scotland. If you're a practical problem-solver with a background in mechanical or electrical maintenance and enjoy variety in your working week, this could be the role for you.
About the Role
As Service Engineer, you'll be responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance of plant equipment, including steam boiler systems, ensuring everything runs safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. You'll work both independently and alongside subcontractors, applying strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills to resolve issues quickly.
This role will occasionally require travel to sites in Scotland, so flexibility around travel is important.
What You'll Be Doing
Carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance on plant and field equipmentDiagnosing and resolving faults using strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skillsWorking with PLC control systems as part of maintenance and commissioning activitySupporting plant commissioning projectsMaintaining and servicing steam boiler systemsManaging stock levels for spare parts and materialsOverseeing and coordinating subcontractors on siteCarrying out risk assessments and maintaining full compliance with health and safety standardsPlanning and organising your own workload across multiple sitesWhat We're Looking For Around 2 years' relevant experience in a similar maintenance or field service engineering roleStrong fault-finding, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilitiesExperience with PLC control systemsSteam boiler maintenance experience desirableComfortable managing subcontractors and coordinating on-site workGood organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage your own timeConfident communicator, proactive, and a continuous learnerCompetent with Microsoft OfficeWillingness to travel to sites in Scotland as required
