THE ROLE IN SHORT

The Operations Lead is responsible for leading and supporting the company’s infrastructure platforms that underpin a global 24/7/365 SaaS environment serving customers worldwide. The role combines technical leadership with hands-on involvement in infrastructure and cloud operations , ensuring the stability, performance, and resilience of critical services. The role actively contributes to the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of cloud infrastructure solutions , as well as the ongoing management of on-premises environments across multiple data centre locations . The Operations Lead collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to deliver both business-as-usual (BAU) operations and strategic infrastructure initiatives , ensuring services are maintained to high operational and security standards while supporting the organisation’s growth and technology roadmap.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING:

  • Manage on-premises infrastructure operations, including VMware, Linux, and Windows platforms.
  • Support and maintain data centre operations, ensuring reliability, availability, and performance of critical systems.
  • Contribute to cloud and infrastructure operations and project delivery, primarily within Azure and AWS environments.
  • Participate in out-of-hours operational support and incident response when required to maintain service continuity.
  • Produce and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for infrastructure systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Provide regular operational and performance reporting to relevant stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development to maintain and enhance technical and leadership capabilities.
  • Maintain clear communication and effective collaboration with stakeholders across all areas of the business

TO BE SUCCESSFUL YOU WILL LIKELY HAVE:

  • Third-line support experience for on-premises infrastructure, including VMware, physical server hardware, and SAN storage platforms.
  • Advanced operating system administration experience across Linux and Windows Server environments.
  • Operational experience within data centre environments, supporting critical infrastructure and services.
  • Experience with infrastructure and platform monitoring tools, including PRTG, cloud-native monitoring solutions, and Grafana.
  • Experience with service management and change management processes, using platforms such as JIRA.
  • Public cloud operations experience within Microsoft Azure and AWS environments.
  • Good understanding of networking principles across both cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines, utilising tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, and Chef.
  • Ability to produce and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, with demonstrable examples.
  • Experience producing clear, detailed operational and performance reporting for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development, supported by demonstrable learning or certification progress.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple business functions.
