DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
Delivering end-to-end wireless network infrastructure solutions across Ireland, the UK, and international markets. The team supports the full lifecycle of telecoms projects, from initial site acquisition and planning through to design, build, deployment, and ongoing maintenance
JOB OBJECTIVE
The Operations Manager - Wireless Infrastructure is responsible for the safe, efficient and commercially successful delivery of wireless telecommunications projects and programmes.
The role provides leadership and direction to operational teams, ensuring compliance with health, safety, quality and customer requirements whilst driving operational excellence, resource optimisation and continuous improvement.
The Operations Manager is accountable for programme performance, including delivery, customer satisfaction, commercial outcomes, resource planning, risk management and business growth initiatives. The role supports tender and bid activities, customer engagement and mobilisation activities to ensure projects are delivered safely, profitably and right first time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the safe, efficient and profitable delivery of wireless infrastructure projects and programmes.
- Ensure compliance with company, client and statutory Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements.
- Manage and optimise operational resources, including employees, subcontractors, plant, equipment and materials.
- Provide leadership, coaching and performance management to operational teams and delivery managers.
- Drive a culture of operational excellence, continuous improvement and right-first-time delivery.
- Support business development, tender, bid and mobilisation activities through operational planning, resource forecasting and delivery methodology development.
- Monitor and manage programme performance against safety, quality, programme and financial targets.
- Identify, manage and mitigate operational, commercial and delivery risks whilst maximising opportunities for improved performance.
- Lead operational commercial activities including forecasting, applications, variations, completed works, revenue recovery and cost control.
- Act as the primary operational escalation point for programme teams, customers and subcontractors.
- Promote best practice across acquisition, civils, construction, electrical, rigging, installation, commissioning and integration activities.
Governance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements and industry regulations.
- Maintain effective operational controls, governance processes and performance reporting.
- Produce and present operational, commercial and programme performance reports to senior management and customers.
- Monitor KPIs, forecasts, risks and opportunities, implementing improvement plans where required.
- Support audits, inspections and governance reviews, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and closed out.
- Ensure customer systems, operational tools and reporting platforms are accurately maintained and updated.
Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
- Manage customer expectations and provide effective resolution to operational, commercial and delivery escalations.
- Work collaboratively with Programme Managers, Project Managers, Commercial, Finance and Business Development teams to achieve successful outcomes.
- Represent the business in customer meetings, operational reviews, tender presentations and governance forums.
- Support the development of long-term customer partnerships through consistent delivery, service excellence and customer satisfaction.
- Provide operational expertise and technical guidance across the Wireless Infrastructure business stream.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Minimum 10 years' experience within the mobile telecommunications industry.
- Extensive knowledge of wireless infrastructure deployment, including acquisition, civils, construction, electrical, rigging, installation, commissioning and integration activities.
- Previous experience leading operational teams and managing multiple projects, programmes or functions.
- Strong understanding of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality management requirements.
- Working knowledge of CDM Regulations and their practical application.
- Demonstrable experience supporting tender preparation, bid management, resource planning and project mobilisation activities.
- Strong commercial awareness, including cost control, forecasting, revenue recovery and financial performance management.
- Demonstrable experience managing operational, commercial and financial performance across multiple projects or programmes.
- Experience identifying, managing and mitigating programme risks and opportunities.
- Strong business and commercial acumen with the ability to support customer retention, business growth and operational improvement initiatives.
- Strong leadership, coaching and people management skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management and customer relationship skills.
- Ability to manage customer escalations and resolve complex operational issues.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Mobile Network Operator or Telecommunications Vendor experience.
- Professional management or project management qualification.
- Health and Safety qualification such as NEBOSH or IOSH.
- Experience delivering telecommunications programmes across multiple clients and technologies.
- Knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure frameworks and delivery models.
- Experience using ERP, project management and business intelligence reporting systems.
