Infrastructure Manager

MRJ are currently working exclusively with a leading B2B2C Marketplace with a thriving HQ in Manchester.

What's the role?

We’re looking for an experienced Infrastructure Manager to lead our infrastructure and operations function, supporting a 1,000+ user environment across multiple sites and cloud platforms.

Working closely with the Head of IT Operations, you’ll play a key role in shaping our infrastructure strategy, ensuring our systems are robust, secure, and scalable as we continue to grow.

You’ll lead a talented team of 8 engineers, providing technical guidance, mentoring, and driving service excellence across the business. This role combines hands-on expertise with leadership and project delivery, ideal for someone who thrives in both strategic and technical domains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 8 infrastructure engineers and administrators.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure (AWS).
  • Manage and continuously improve core services — including networking, Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and Office 365.
  • Own incident, problem, and change management processes in line with ITIL best practices.
  • Deliver medium to large-scale infrastructure and cloud transformation projects from concept to completion.
  • Ensure systems are secure, resilient, and compliant with company and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with security, product, and software teams to enable a modern, scalable technology environment.
  • Manage vendor relationships and third-party service providers effectively.

An experienced Infrastructure Leader / Manager, you’ll be a confident and collaborative leader with strong technical foundations and a passion for operational excellence. You balance hands-on knowledge with strategic thinking and enjoy leading teams to deliver measurable impact.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Extensive knowledge of public cloud platforms – AWS (Essential)
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft stack: Exchange, Active Directory, IIS, Windows Server 2019+, PowerShell.
  • Broad exposure to Microsoft 365 services
  • Proven track record delivering medium to large IT infrastructure projects across multiple locations
  • ITIL certification or strong working knowledge of ITIL frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience managing teams in complex, multi-site, or enterprise environments (1,000+ users).
