70000 - 85000 United KingdomSoftware & Infrastructure PermanentSenior/Lead Embedded Linux Software EngineerWe are recruiting on behalf of a leading global technology organisation for an experienced Senior/Lead Embedded Linux Software Engineer to lead the development of Linux-based software for advanced communication and embedded systems. This role combines hands-on software development with technical leadership and mentoring of a small engineering team.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead development of Linux user-space applications and system services. Develop C/C++ software for system configuration, monitoring and diagnostics.

Design APIs and services for hardware control and telemetry.

Provide technical leadership across software architecture and development.

Conduct code reviews and design discussions.

Mentor and support a team of 3–4 embedded software engineers.

Collaborate with platform and hardware engineering teams. Maintain CI/CD pipelines and development workflows.

Key Requirements8+ years' experience in Linux software development.3–4 years' technical leadership or mentoring experience.

Strong C/C++ development experience in Linux user-space environments.

Strong knowledge of Linux system programming, including POSIX APIs, sockets and multithreading.

Experience developing Linux system services or applications.

Experience leading or mentoring small engineering teams. Strong Git and CI/CD experience.

Python or scripting experience for automation and testing.

Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools is advantageous.

Experience with embedded Linux, hardware interaction, FPGA-based systems, telecoms or networking platforms would be beneficial.
