IT Support Engineer

We're working with an established business based in Didcot, looking to bring in a dedicated IT Support professional to join their technical support team.

The successful candidate will provide essential assistance in supporting, maintaining and troubleshooting customers' IT infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a dynamic environment, supporting a wide range of hardware and software systems across various operating platforms. The role suits someone with strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving, with a genuine focus on delivering exceptional customer service.

The role is based in the office at 2/3 times per week, with potential customer site visits as required.

Key Duties

  • Provide help desk technical support and assistance to end-users via telephone and email, resolving issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems with desktop computers, laptops, servers, and peripheral devices
  • Manage user accounts and permissions within Microsoft 365/Azure Active Directory and other identity management systems
  • Support and maintain computer networks including LAN, WAN, VPNs, DNS, TCP/IP configurations, firewalls, and backup technologies
  • Assist with the deployment and configuration of operating systems, including updates and patches
  • Monitor system performance and conduct analysis to identify potential issues before they impact users
  • Maintain documentation of support activities and system configurations for future reference
  • Collaborate with the wider IT team on projects involving network upgrades, hardware replacements, or software rollouts

What We're Looking For

  • Exceptional customer service orientation with a proactive attitude towards problem resolution
  • Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users
  • Proven experience in desktop support and hardware troubleshooting across various operating systems such as Windows (including Windows Server), macOS, and Linux
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Active Directory administration and user account management
  • Knowledge of MSP management tools, including RMM platforms for software deployment and updates
  • Ability to prioritise tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality support standards
  • Able to work independently and organise own time effectively

Desirable

  • Previous MSP experience (around 1 year preferred) not essential
