Apprentice Mechatronics Engineer
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work and wants to build a career combining mechanical engineering, electrical systems, automation and technology. You will gain experience supporting experienced engineers with the installation, maintenance and repair of equipment.
Role
Day to day tasks will include:
- Assist engineers with the planned and preventative maintenance of manufacturing machinery
- Support the diagnosis and repair of mechanical and electrical faults
- Learn to identify faults with motors, sensors, drives, pumps, conveyors and automated equipment
- Assist with the installation, testing and commissioning of machinery
- Develop an understanding of PLCs, control systems and industrial automation
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics and technical documentation
- Carry out routine inspections and basic maintenance tasks under supervision
- Support production teams by responding to machinery issues and helping minimise downtime
- Assist with engineering improvement projects to improve equipment reliability, safety and efficiency
- Gain practical experience across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Complete maintenance records, job sheets and relevant engineering documentation
- Follow all company health and safety procedures, risk assessments and safe working practices
- Attend toolbox talks, training sessions and engineering meetings as required
- Complete apprenticeship training, coursework and portfolio evidence
- Work towards developing the skills and competence required to progress within the engineering team
Training
This is a Level 3 Mechatronics apprenticeship, delivered over a 3-4-year period. The apprentice will attend the training centre, In-Comm Training in Aldridge WS9 8UG, 2 and a half days per week for the first 20-months.
Company is by accessible bus stops and does have free car parking for staff.
You will be given the option to opt into the company pension scheme which also offers life insurance.
25 days holiday plus bank holidays are given to all staff.
