Location: Midlands
Contract: 6 months
Day Rate/Salary: up to £500 per day/up to £95k pa, depending on experience
Inside IR35
Working pattern: Hybrid, 2 days per week in the office
The Opportunity
A growing, technology-led business is looking for an experienced interim finance professional to strengthen its financial planning across the organisation.
This is a hands-on assignment combining financial modelling, cost management and strategic business partnering. You'll take ownership of key planning activities, improve existing processes and provide the analysis and challenge needed to support better business decisions.
What You'll Be Doing
- Technology investment and resource planning: Develop and maintain financial models covering resource requirements, project delivery timelines, squad-level return on investment and capital expenditure, providing clear insight to senior technology leaders.
- Software development accounting: Oversee the accounting for capitalised internal development costs, strengthening existing processes to improve accuracy, consistency and efficiency, including utilising & improving AI usage.
- Headcount and operating model planning: Partner with People leadership to support workforce planning, resource requirements and associated financial forecasts.
- Budgeting and financial reporting: Own budgets, forecasts and month-end reporting for support functions, providing clear variance analysis and meaningful commentary.
- Business planning: Play a key role in budgets, reforecasts and longer-term financial plans, challenging assumptions and ensuring plans remain commercially realistic.
- Performance improvement: Assess operational efficiency initiatives, evaluating potential savings, investment requirements, resource implications, delivery timescales and risks.

What We're Looking For
You'll be an experienced finance professional, who combines strong technical and analytical skills with the confidence to influence senior stakeholders and challenge constructively. In addition you will have:
- Proven experience in FP&A, commercial finance or senior finance business partnering, preferably within a technology-led, digital or fast-growing business.
- Strong practical knowledge of accounting for capitalised internal software development costs, including the underlying accounting treatment.
- Advanced Excel skills and a track record of building and maintaining complex financial models.
- Experience managing budgets, forecasts, cost analysis and month-end reporting.
- The ability to translate complex financial information into clear, commercially focused recommendations.
- Confidence working with senior leaders, managing competing priorities and delivering in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive approach to process improvement, problem-solving and developing colleagues.
- A finance qualification would be strongly preferred
