Flexibility: Hybrid (2-3 days in the office)
Salary: £38k - £45k
Macildowie are working with a client based in Sheffield to recruit a Junior Product Manager (Hardware) for an established technology business with a huge market share, that designs and delivers innovative hardware solutions used in mission-critical environments across the UK.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to develop their Product Management career within a collaborative technical environment. Working alongside experienced Product, Engineering, Marketing, Customer Success and Technical teams, you'll play an important role in ensuring hardware products are reliable, fit for purpose and continually evolving to meet customer needs.
Unlike many Product roles, this position focuses on physical hardware rather than purely software, making it ideal for someone with an interest in technology, engineering and how products perform in real-world environments.
The Role
Reporting into the Hardware Product Manager, you'll support the development and lifecycle of a diverse hardware portfolio.
You'll help research new technologies, evaluate hardware solutions, coordinate product improvements and work with cross-functional teams to ensure products are successfully developed, tested and delivered.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same. One day you could be researching new hardware technologies, the next collaborating with Engineering on product improvements or supporting the launch of new products across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Hardware Product Manager with the delivery of the product roadmap.
- Research emerging hardware technologies and market trends.
- Evaluate new products, suppliers and technical solutions.
- Work closely with Engineering to validate and improve hardware performance.
- Gather feedback from customers and internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Produce product documentation, specifications and release information.
- Coordinate activity across Engineering, Test, Development, Technical Support, Delivery, Marketing and Customer Success teams.
- Support product launches and ongoing product lifecycle management.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
What We Need From You
This role would suit someone who already has experience within Product Management or Product Ownership in a hardware-focused environment, or someone with a technical background looking to develop their Product career.
We're particularly interested in individuals who enjoy understanding how products work, asking questions and collaborating with engineering teams to solve problems.
You'll ideally have:
- Experience within Product Management, Product Ownership or Product Engineering.
- Exposure to hardware products rather than purely software.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong organisational and project coordination abilities.
- A naturally curious and analytical mindset.
- The confidence to work with technical specialists across multiple departments.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally.
- Further note: An interest in musical or entertainment audio-visual hardware would be an additional bonus!
Experience within a specific industry isn't essential. We're far more interested in transferable hardware experience and someone who is genuinely passionate about technology.
Why Apply?
You'll be joining a collaborative Product team where you'll work alongside experienced professionals and gain exposure to the complete product lifecycle.
This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your Product Management career within an innovative technology business that values ideas, continuous improvement and collaboration.
If you're looking for your next challenge within Hardware Product Management, we'd love to hear from you.
