Interim Employment Counsel (France & EMEA) 6-Month Contract
London (Hybrid) or Paris (Hybrid)
We’re currently supporting a globally recognised technology business in hiring an Interim Employment Counsel to join its EMEA Employment Legal team.
This is a high-impact, hands-on role arising from increased workload across the region, with an immediate need for a lawyer who can step in and operate autonomously from day one.
The Role
You’ll act as a key adviser to the business, delivering pragmatic employment law support across multiple European jurisdictions — with a core focus on France, where current demand is highest.
Working closely with internal stakeholders and external counsel, you’ll play a central role in managing complex, cross-border employment matters in a fast-paced international environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert employment law advice across France and wider EMEA jurisdictions
- Advise on employee relations, disputes, and litigation, coordinating with local counsel where required
- Support on restructures, workforce changes, and consultation processes across Europe
- Work closely with HR and business leaders on day-to-day and strategic employment matters
- Navigate and advise on works councils and employee representative bodies
- Help manage increased workload and backlog within the EMEA employment team
Jurisdictional Focus
- France (core and essential focus)
- Additional exposure to:
- Germany
- Italy
- Spain
- UK experience helpful, but not the primary requirement
About You
- Qualified lawyer (France, England & Wales, or other European jurisdiction)
- Strong experience advising on French employment law
- Proven track record handling cross-border employment matters across Europe
- Confident managing multiple jurisdictions and instructing external counsel
- Comfortable operating in a high-autonomy, fast-moving environment
- Able to “hit the ground running” with minimal supervision
