Legal Counsel – Product Compliance & E-Commerce

6-Month Interim Contract | London / Hybrid | Immediate Start

We are supporting a leading international technology and digital commerce business seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join a high-performing legal and compliance team on an initial 6-month contract.

This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of technology, e-commerce, digital platforms, product development and regulatory compliance , partnering closely with product, commercial and operational stakeholders on fast-moving business initiatives across multiple jurisdictions.

The Role

You will provide day-to-day legal and compliance support on a broad range of digital platform and e-commerce matters, including:

  • Advising on new product launches, platform features and business initiatives.
  • Conducting legal and compliance assessments for products, services and strategic projects.
  • Identifying regulatory risks and delivering pragmatic mitigation strategies.
  • Advising stakeholders on platform governance, marketplace operations and consumer-facing products.
  • Monitoring regulatory developments across the technology and e-commerce landscape and translating legal requirements into practical business guidance.
  • Working closely with product, operations, compliance and commercial teams in a fast-paced environment.

We are interested in speaking to lawyers who combine strong technical knowledge with a commercial, solutions-oriented approach.

The ideal candidate will likely have:

  • At least 4–8 years' post-qualification experience.
  • Qualification in England & Wales, the US, EU, APAC or another recognised jurisdiction.
  • Experience gained in a leading law firm and/or technology, internet, marketplace, media or e-commerce business.
  • Strong knowledge of digital regulation and platform-related legal issues.
  • Experience advising product, engineering, compliance and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate independently in a dynamic, high-growth environment.

Particularly Relevant Experience

We would be especially interested in candidates with experience in areas such as:

  • E-commerce and online marketplace regulation.
  • Digital Services Act (DSA).
  • Digital Markets Act (DMA).
  • GDPR and privacy compliance.
  • Platform governance and trust & safety.
  • Consumer protection and advertising regulation.
  • Content moderation or online safety frameworks.
  • AI governance, product compliance or emerging technology regulation.
  • Cross-border technology and digital platform issues.
