Role Purpose and Scope: -
This role supports a business-wide transformation programme focused on EBITDA improvement, operational efficiency, and service excellence.
My client is seeking a delivery-focused Project Manager to lead the execution of transformation initiatives across IT, customer operations, and commercial support.
Current priorities include:
- Implementation of Customer Pre-Payment Technology.
- Proof of Concept for Conversational Voice AI Agents.
- Integration of acquisitions into core SOPs and ways of working.
You will be responsible for taking defined initiatives through to delivery - on time, in scope, and with appropriate quality controls. While the business is delivery-oriented, project governance maturity is evolving. You’ll work with minimal bureaucracy but will be expected to bring structure, visibility, and rigour to delivery.
The role is fully supported by the Director of Transformation & IT, with autonomy over execution approach, tools, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities: -
1. Deliver Business-Critical Projects:
- Lead the planning and execution of defined transformation projects from scope agreement through to implementation.
- Align objectives, milestones, and success criteria with business sponsors and technical leads.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, third-party partners, and internal SMEs to maintain delivery momentum.
- Manage risks, dependencies, and blockers proactively.
- Provide weekly delivery updates and steer summaries to the Director of Transformation & IT and stakeholders.
- Contribute to post-implementation reviews to support benefit tracking and learning.
2. Apply Practical, Lightweight Delivery Discipline:
- Implement a practical project control rhythm using tools such as critical paths, RAID logs, issue/action trackers.
- Recommend and embed simple, effective templates to manage delivery clarity and pace.
- Balance structure and speed - adapt delivery tactics to suit the size and scope of each initiative.
- Maintain accurate, accessible documentation throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Ensure alignment across remote and on-site resources in a hybrid delivery environment.
Ways of working:-
- Demonstrate professionalism and ownership in all interactions with colleagues and partners.
- Operate safely and compliantly when working on-site at depots or customer locations.
- Be responsive to project delivery requirements, including occasional flexibility around deadlines.
- Champion a practical, low-ego delivery culture: focused, clear, and outcome-driven.
Key working relationships:-
- Director of Transformation & IT (line manager and project sponsor)
- IT delivery, infrastructure, and support teams
- Contact Centre leadership
- Field Operations and depot managers
- Commercial and Finance teams
- Subject Matter Experts and project coordinators
- Digital agency and platform delivery partners
- Telephony and Conversational AI technology providers
- Other integration vendors and implementation partners
Selection Criteria: -
Essential:
- 10+ years’ experience delivering cross-functional business or IT projects in dynamic environments.
- Proven ability to lead delivery using practical tools and straightforward methods.
- Comfortable building structure where maturity is low (e.g. critical paths, RAID, tracking)
- Strong written and verbal reporting skills - clear, concise, stakeholder-focused.
- Effective risk and dependency management.
- Outcome-focused and commercially aware.
Desirable:
- PRINCE2, PMP, APM or Agile certification.
- Experience in private equity-backed or transformation-led businesses.
- Familiarity with customer operations, fulfilment, or payment technologies.
- Experience managing hybrid (remote/on-site) delivery teams.
Measures of Success: -
- Project outcomes delivered on time, in scope, and to defined quality expectations.
- Clear project tracking and risk visibility throughout.
- Effective adoption of practical tooling and delivery cadence by internal stakeholders.
- Handovers and documentation enable sustainable ownership post-implementation.
- Project volume and complexity were successfully managed without escalation.
- Benefits tracked by business functions and delivery learning are captured.
