Manufacturing Engineer (Electrical Wire Harnesses & Electro-Mechanical Assemblies)
If you enjoy turning design intent into dependable production and making improvements that teams can feel on the shop floor, this role is for you. You'll bridge engineering and manufacturing to support the build of high-quality electrical wire harnesses, control panels, cable assemblies, and complex electro-mechanical enclosures.
What you'll be doing:
- Map assembly workflows and apply lean manufacturing principles to improve throughput and efficiency
- Create production documentation: SOPs, work instructions, and build-books from schematics and BOMs
- Design and validate production aids and test solutions, including: form boards, crimping tooling, assembly jigs, and continuity/functional test fixtures
- Provide shop-floor engineering support as the primary technical contact for technicians
- Drive structured root-cause analysis on faults and support execution after engineering changes
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap, minimise waste, and shorten cycle times
What you'll bring:
- Degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent hands-on experience)
- Proven experience in an electrical harnessing or electro-mechanical assembly environment
- Strong knowledge of IPC standards, specifically IPC/WHMA-A-620
- Proficiency with 2D/3D CAD (e.g., SolidWorks / AutoCAD)
- Familiarity with ERP/MES systems for managing BOMs and routings
- Excellent diagnostic skills with a structured approach to problem-solving (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys)
