Role Overview

The client is seeking a Resident Maintenance Technician to support one of their key customer sites in South Normanton, Alfreton. This is a site‐based engineering role focused on maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimising cutting‐edge automated warehouse technologies to ensure maximum uptime and system performance.

You’ll work closely with on‐site operations teams, acting as the technical expert for all automation‐related maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preventative maintenance and corrective repairs across automated warehouse equipment.
  • Diagnosing electrical & mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
  • Using CMMS to record maintenance activities and system performance.
  • Producing service documentation including reports and technical logs.
  • Collaborating with on‐site operations and management teams.
  • Monitoring spare parts and supporting inventory control.
  • Providing technical guidance and troubleshooting support to customer personnel.
  • Upholding high standards of safety, quality, and customer service.

About You

  • Strong electrical and mechanical maintenance background.
  • Confident in fault‐finding, diagnostics, and hands‐on repairs.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (electrical & mechanical).
  • Good IT skills and experience with maintenance systems.
  • Proactive, customer‐focused, and comfortable working independently.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with automation, conveyors, robotics, or material‐handling equipment is a plus.
  • MEWP (3A/3B) and FLT (Reach/Counterbalance) certifications are desirable but not essential.

Working Pattern & Benefits

  • Permanent, full‐time (40 hours per week).
  • Site‐based at South Normanton, Alfreton.
  • Three‐shift rotation:
  • 06:00–14:00
  • 14:00–22:00
  • 22:00–06:00
  • Monday–Friday with occasional weekend work (advance notice).
  • Paid overtime available.
  • All tools and equipment provided.
  • Ongoing training across AutoStore, AGVs, pallet automation, and other advanced systems.
