Maintenance Manager
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Maintenance & Services Manager to join a busy manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced electro-mechanical engineer with a strong background in maintaining production machinery and ensuring high levels of plant reliability and uptime.
Working as part of a small engineering team, you will be responsible for the maintenance, fault finding, repair and continuous improvement of plant machinery and production equipment.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Carrying out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across production machinery.
- Diagnosing and repairing complex electrical and mechanical faults.
- Fault finding on PLC-controlled systems, including Siemens and Allen-Bradley.
- Working with motor control circuits, VSDs, contactors, sensors and three-phase electrical systems.
- Maintaining and repairing gearboxes, chains, belts, conveyors, pumps, pneumatics and hydraulic systems.
- Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
- Responding quickly to breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
- Identifying and implementing engineering improvements and machinery modifications.
- Working closely with production teams and management to coordinate maintenance activities.
- Ensuring safe working practices are followed, including isolation and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
About You
We are looking for a multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer / Maintenance Manager with significant hands-on experience within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment.
You will ideally have:
- Strong electrical and mechanical maintenance skills.
- Proven experience working on complex production machinery.
- Excellent electrical fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.
- Experience with PLC-controlled equipment, VSDs, motors and three-phase systems.
- Strong mechanical maintenance knowledge, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Experience of both planned preventative and reactive maintenance.
- The ability to work confidently from electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and machinery reliability.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- The flexibility to work across different areas of a manufacturing facility, including working at height or in confined spaces where required.
Qualifications
A recognised engineering qualification is required, such as:
HNC/HND, City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 apprenticeship or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.
A valid UK driving licence and IPAF licence would be desirable.
