IT Business Analyst

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced IT Business Analyst to join a dynamic technology and transformation function supporting a complex commercial and trading environment.

This role offers broad exposure across front-office systems, digital transformation programmes, data and analytics platforms, cloud technologies, and enterprise applications. We are looking for a technology-focused Business Analyst who can work across multiple projects and stakeholder groups, helping to bridge the gap between business needs and innovative technology solutions.

The successful candidate will play a key role throughout the entire project lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design through to testing, implementation, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to identify, analyse and document requirements.
• Facilitate workshops and requirements-gathering sessions across multiple business functions.
• Translate business needs into clear functional and technical requirements.
• Support the design and delivery of cloud-based, data-driven and digital transformation initiatives.
• Work closely with development, architecture and project delivery teams to ensure successful solution implementation.
• Define and support user acceptance testing, ensuring solutions meet business objectives.
• Contribute to process improvement, system optimisation and innovation initiatives.
• Support programmes and projects spanning business operations, technology, data and digital transformation.

Skills & Experience Essential

• Proven experience as an IT Business Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, or Technology Consultant.
• Strong experience delivering technology and transformation projects in complex business environments.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently at all levels.
• Experience working with cloud technologies and modern application architectures.
• Strong understanding of business process analysis, requirements management and solution design.
• Experience working within Agile, Scrum or hybrid delivery methodologies.
• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent professional experience.

Desirable

• Experience with technologies such as Azure, Databricks, Power BI, or similar enterprise platforms.
• Exposure to data analytics, business intelligence, AI/ML, cybersecurity, or cloud transformation programmes.
• Knowledge of microservices, domain-driven design, or cloud-native solutions.
• Python or other scripting/programming experience.
• Experience within energy, commodities, financial services, telecommunications, or other highly regulated and fast-paced sectors.
• Exposure to trading platforms, risk systems, or ETRM applications would be beneficial but is not essential.
