Cross Domain Lead Data Architect / Business Domain Data Architect – Director
Global Banking | London | Hybrid | Up to £120,000 + Bonus
We are partnering with a major global bank to appoint an EMEA Cross-Domain Data Architect Lead at Director level.
This is a senior Data Architecture role sitting at the intersection of business, data and technology, with responsibility for shaping data architecture across multiple areas of the Corporate & Investment Bank.
We are looking for someone who brings strong Data Architecture expertise alongside a genuine understanding of how a Corporate & Investment Bank operates. You should be comfortable discussing banking products, the trade lifecycle, key business functions and how data moves between them.
The role
You will:
- Lead cross-domain Data Architecture across major EMEA programmes and initiatives.
- Define current and target-state data architectures, data flows and domain boundaries.
- Work with senior business, technology, data and governance stakeholders.
- Translate complex business processes and requirements into clear Data Architecture.
- Apply your understanding of the trade lifecycle to identify how data is created, transformed, consumed and governed.
- Work across multiple CIB products, functions and data domains.
- Identify dependencies and data flows between areas such as Front Office, Operations, Risk, Finance and Treasury.
- Provide architectural direction and challenge across programmes.
- Support Data Governance, Data Management and conceptual/logical data modelling.
- Help establish consistent Data Architecture standards and practices across EMEA.
- Provide leadership and guidance to other architects while remaining close to the architecture itself.
What we're looking for
You will be an experienced Data Architect / Enterprise Data Architect with:
- Strong experience within Corporate & Investment Banking.
- Good understanding of the end-to-end trade lifecycle.
- Knowledge of products offered within a Corporate & Investment Bank and the data associated with them.
- Understanding of the key functions within a CIB and how they interact.
- Experience applying banking domain knowledge to Data Architecture decisions in practice.
- Strong conceptual and logical data architecture/modelling capability.
- Experience defining target-state architectures and complex data flows across multiple domains.
- Confidence working with senior business and technology stakeholders.
- The ability to operate at both strategic and detailed architecture levels.
- Experience leading or providing direction to other Data Architects.
This would suit someone who understands that effective Data Architecture in banking requires more than technology knowledge. You will be able to understand the business processes, products and data behind them, and use that knowledge to shape architecture across organisational and domain boundaries.
