Location: City of London (Hybrid)Contract: 3-6 months Rate: £680 per day (Umbrella - Inside IR35)
OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Azure Platform Network Engineer to support a high-profile programme within a complex enterprise environment. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and securing Azure networking foundations to enable scalable, isolated, and secure AI and platform workloads.
This is a hands-on engineering role, ideal for someone with deep expertise in Azure networking, private connectivity, and network security operating at enterprise scale.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement Azure Virtual Network (VNet) architectures, including hub-and-spoke and VNet peering
- Configure custom routing using User Defined Routes (UDRs)
- Design and manage private connectivity solutions, including Private Endpoints, Private Link, and Azure DNS
- Support hybrid connectivity via ExpressRoute and/or site-to-site VPNs
- Implement and manage Azure Firewall, NSGs, and routing policies
- Design and enforce secure network isolation patterns for platform and AI workloads, including:
- VNet injection
- Secure API Management (APIM) integration
- Private access to Azure services
- Troubleshoot complex network, routing, and DNS issues across environments
- Collaborate with platform, security, and engineering teams to ensure alignment with security and compliance standards
- Produce clear technical documentation and architecture diagrams
- Strong hands-on experience in Azure networking (enterprise scale)
- Proven experience designing hub-and-spoke architectures
- Deep knowledge of:
- VNet peering and routing behaviour
- User Defined Routes (UDRs)
- Extensive experience with:
- Private Endpoints & Private DNS Zones
- Azure Firewall and NSGs
- Solid experience with ExpressRoute and VPN connectivity
- Strong understanding of network isolation and security principles, particularly within sensitive environments
- Experience supporting AI or data platforms in secure Azure environments
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, delivery-focused contract role
- Experience working on AI platforms or AI mesh architectures
- Understanding of Zero Trust networking principles
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, Terraform)
- Experience within regulated or security-sensitive environments
