Data Management Engineer - 12 month contract - Preston, Lanchashire - £30.49 ph UMB or £22.75 ph PAYE (Inside IR35)
The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs). The Role
The data management engineer is a dedicated role which supports the delivery of data quality management governance activities and actions.
The data management engineer is a data practioner who will be responsible for executing business data change processes and implementing data changes in the systems of record which are owned by their assigned function and/or line of business.
Fixes to source system data may be delivered either manually or via automated means such as scripts and automation workflows, and suitable delegated authorities may need to be sought in order to execute system changes.
The data management engineer directly contributes to improved business perrmance through the hands-on delivery of data quality improvements either as part of a 'data cleanse' service team or as a singleton role embeded directly within a function or line of business.
In delivering their accountabilities the data management engineer will work closely with representatives of their assigned function and/or line of business and will develop a comprehensive understanding of the data which is 'owned' by that organisation.
Role Responsibilities:
Not limited to...
- Working with stakeholders in their assigned function/SDU/LoB in order to identify, elaborate and triage data cleanse requirements.
- Working with functional and line of business representatives in order to identify data standards, change processes and authorities associated with data changes and using these to support the definition of 'change patterns' for each type of data.
- Agreeing data changes in accordance with the change pattern - including (where necessary) the raising of the business change authorities and securing their approval.
- Implementing agreed data changes including (where necessary) gaining systems access and making the requisite changes, either manually, or utilising automated methods.
- Agreeing change closure with the requirement owner, including the confirmation of business benefits.
What are BAE Systems looking for from you?
- Familiar with the prinicipes of data management as defined in such artefacts as the Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBOK)
- Have a working knowledge of configuration management principles, particularly with reference to data
- Have knowledge of data change and migrations methods including both manual and automated (e.g. scripted) methods using toolsets such as python and alteryx
- Have a working knowledge of the principles of data anaylsis using tools like Tableau and Excel
- Motivated to data improvement and is able to work independently, methodically and analytically to bring about such changes
- Skilled at stakeholder management and communication in order to progress data changes to conclusion
Security Requirements: SC & ITAR
This role will require the person to hold full Security Clearance (SC) prior to working onsite. You will need to obtain a BPSS check as part of this process. You must currently hold or be eligible and willing to obtain SC. In addition, this role involves direct and/or indirect access to ITAR Material which means there are restrictions.
