Data Migration Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Migration Engineer to lead the transition of data from a legacy application to a modern SaaS platform. This role demands hands-on technical expertise in managing both structured and unstructured data, designing robust mapping strategies, and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of migrated data. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with real estate software systems, enabling them to navigate property-related data structures effectively and contribute to a seamless migration process.
- Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Mapping
- Analyse legacy data sources (structured and unstructured) and design comprehensive mapping rules aligned with the target SaaS platform.
- Collaborate with Data Governance, business stakeholders, and technical teams to define transformation logic and ensure business alignment.
Data Migration Execution
- Develop, configure, and execute migration scripts, ETL pipelines, or tools to extract, transform, and load data.
- Validate migration outputs against business and technical requirements.
- Identify, document, and resolve data quality and consistency issues.
Data Quality & Governance
- Profile legacy datasets to detect anomalies, duplicates, and incomplete records.
- Work closely with Data Governance and business SMEs to cleanse and enrich data.
- Implement quality assurance checks to ensure accurate and complete migration.
Collaboration & Documentation
- Partner with application owners, SaaS vendors, and internal IT teams to coordinate migration activities.
- Produce detailed documentation covering mapping rules, migration strategy, validation procedures, and reconciliation processes.
- Support testing and user acceptance phases with migration evidence and issue resolution.
What you'll bring
- Proven experience leading data migration projects.
- Hands-on experience with property management systems, with previous exposure to MRI Horizon real estate software being beneficial.
- Proficiency in handling structured data (e.g., Excel) and unstructured data (e.g., documents, contracts).
- Strong understanding of data governance, GDPR, compliance, and security principles.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve data quality issues.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Experience of commercial property leases/licences.
- Basic understanding of lease renewals/rent reviews.
- Knowledge of commercial property terminology.
