Network Engineer - SC Cleared (Contract)
Our client, a key player in the defence and security sector, is seeking a Network Engineer with SC clearance to support their technical teams in Corsham. This role involves designing, developing, and testing core networking components within a secure environment. You will work on a mix of remote and on-site days, providing crucial expertise to underpin vital infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and validate networking components for the NSoIT(D) Platform, ensuring they meet operational requirements.
- Produce and review detailed network design artefacts across various stages of the project lifecycle.
- Support system testing activities, troubleshooting, and resolving network issues promptly.
- Collaborate with system and service management teams to maintain system integrity and security.
- Ensure configurations align with security standards, with experience in routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP.
- Implement hierarchical IP subnetting and manage network infrastructure including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Configure and manage VXLAN overlays, dual cloud solutions, and advanced network architectures like Leaf & Spine.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of three years' experience in network engineering, with a focus on Cisco hardware and network design.
- Proficient in routing protocols, network security, and core virtualisation technologies.
- Strong understanding of IPv4/IPv6 subnetting, routing, and network troubleshooting.
- Experience in secure network architecture development within the defence or security sectors.
- Hold a valid Security Clearance (SC) and experience working in defence or government environments.
- Insight into managing large virtualised infrastructure environments, using tools like JIRA and Confluence.
- Solid science or engineering background - ideally with a relevant degree or certification like CCNP.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Experience within the defence or security industry, especially with Defence Digital projects.
- Knowledge of battlefield or secure military networks, gateways, and protocols.
- Experience designing and delivering secure architecture in multi-tenanted environments.
- Chartered Engineer status or equivalent certifications.
- Experience in virtualisation (VMware VCP-NV) and scalable infrastructure environments.
