Prototype Technician
Our client, a leading technology and engineering consultancy in the manufacturing sector, is currently seeking a Prototype Technician to join their team. This is a permanent role where you will work on advanced research and development projects, offering significant scope to impact high-profile projects and customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manufacture required prototypes in line with project requirements, including working under magnification (e.g. microscopes) and soldering components down to 0201 size/BGA rework
- Electro-mechanical assembly of products
- Work to engineering drawings and schematics
- Provide technical support on PCB, cable and product design, component selection, design for manufacture, and development engineering
- Support manufacturing-related activities as required
- Provide specialist advice and ideas on new and emerging technologies to support prototype manufacture
- Troubleshoot and repair non-conforming products
- Cooperate in the raising and improving of internal documents, including but not limited to concessions, test reports, and work instructions
Job Requirements:
- Experience in soldering and assembly of electro-mechanical components and PCBs
- Proficiency in manufacturing prototypes and working to engineering drawings
- Understanding of electronic engineering principles in a development environment
- Knowledge of hand placement of surface mount technologies and cable forming
- Modification and repair of PCBs and box builds
- Technical apprenticeship or degree in engineering (or relevant subject) or equivalent work experience

Due to the nature of this position, you must be willing and eligible to achieve a minimum of SC clearance. You should be a British Citizen and have resided in the UK for the last 5 years.
