Senior Design Engineer

Our client, a leading company in the aerospace sector, is currently seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join their team in Loughborough. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your passion for Mechanical Design to the design and development of innovative fuel cell products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver designs and documentation detailing parts and assemblies that are manufacturable against a set of customer requirements
• Incorporate engineering best practices, including DfX principles, into the product development lifecycle
• Contribute to the long-term mechanical design strategy to standardise, simplify, and modularise products
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, both technical and non-technical
• Apply structured design process methodologies
• Demonstrate application of DfX principles, including Design for Manufacture (DfM)
• Define and deliver sub-systems, when required

Job Requirements:

• Proven product development experience in an agile and fast-paced environment
• Commercial mindset and solutions-focused approach
• Excellent communication skills
• Hold a BEng, BSc (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, or possess an appropriate non-degree level qualification with suitable industry experience
• Hands-on experience with structured design process methodologies
• Proficiency in a 3D parametric CAD package, preferably SolidWorks
• Knowledge of FMEA application and an understanding of manufacturing limitations and techniques
