Location: Hybrid - Porton Down, Salisbury or Portsdown West, Fareham (occasional on-site attendance required)

We're seeking experienced Senior Digital Service Owners to lead the strategic direction, delivery, and governance of key digital service portfolios. You will be accountable for shaping the service strategy, ensuring quality and performance, and enabling continual improvement across multiple high-impact digital domains.

There are six digital service portfolios in scope: Cloud and Hosting, Communications and Collaboration, Engineering and Research, Enterprise IT, Software, and Workplace IT.

This role is ideal for a senior technology leader who thrives in complex environments, can translate business needs into operational excellence, and is passionate about driving service innovation and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and implement a comprehensive multi-service strategy aligned with organisational and business goals.

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery, governance, and performance of a portfolio of digital services.

  • Work collaboratively with technical experts, programme managers, and project teams to ensure services are developed, delivered, and improved in line with business priorities.

  • Drive the continuous improvement of digital services to meet evolving organisational requirements.

  • Serve as the escalation point for service delivery issues within your portfolio.

  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on service performance and quality, identifying opportunities for enhancement.

  • Build strong stakeholder relationships, securing engagement and buy-in for strategic initiatives.

  • Operate in an agile environment, managing change priorities effectively across the service portfolio.

Essential Experience & Skills
  • Significant experience developing and implementing digital service strategies that meet current and future business needs.

  • Proven ability to translate strategy into operational delivery, engaging stakeholders across all levels.

  • Demonstrable experience managing end-to-end IT service lifecycles, from inception to decommissioning.

  • Track record of leading multiple digital services to achieve KPIs, SLAs, and contractual performance standards.

  • Experience managing services delivered through mixed resource models - including internal teams, contractors, and third-party suppliers.

  • Skilled in negotiating and managing Service Level Agreements and supplier performance.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to prioritise competing demands and adapt to change while maintaining delivery momentum.

  • Experience working across digital teams to develop service roadmaps and translate them into measurable business outcomes.

  • ITIL Level 3 certification

  • Experience with Agile methodologies (e.g. PMI-Agile Certified Practitioner, Professional Scrum Master I, or equivalent).
