Simulation Support Manager
Location: Bovington (on‑site, 5 days per week) with regular UK travel
Direct reports: 4–6
Security Clearance: SC (eligible for clearance)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Simulation Support Manager to lead and deliver high‑quality in‑service support for complex military simulation and training systems. Based primarily in Bovington , this is a hands‑on operational leadership role at the heart of a growing and evolving simulation capability.
You will manage and develop a small, geographically dispersed team of Field Service / Support Engineers while remaining personally involved in technical support, system performance, and customer delivery. The role sits within a period of significant infrastructure growth , requiring flexibility, strong technical expertise, and visible on‑site leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Lead, coach and motivate the Simulation Support / Field Service Engineering team
- Act as the senior point of technical support following first‑line resolution
- Ensure efficient, high‑quality customer‑facing support across all assigned sites
- Enable and support training delivery at military units and training establishments
Technical Support & Systems Management
- Provide and facilitate second‑ and third‑line support for complex simulation systems
- Support fault diagnosis, system failure reporting and rectification
- Oversee system performance monitoring to ensure availability and best practice
- Support ongoing enhancement and development of simulation capability
Infrastructure & Change
- Manage support activity relating to:
- New site installations
- Infrastructure upgrades
- Transition and obsolescence management
- Work closely with infrastructure and engineering teams during build‑up and transition phases
- Ensure continuity of service during change
Process, Governance & Reporting
- Develop and maintain support processes, procedures and technical documentation
- Implement effective reporting frameworks and structured support meetings
- Manage the provision of Field Service Representatives (FSRs) to meet delivery targets
- Ensure consistent, compliant support across multiple simulation systems
Locations & Travel
- Primary base: Bovington (on‑site, 5 days per week)
- Regular travel to Lulworth
- Support responsibility for sites including: Tidworth, Warminster and Potential future expansion into Wales
- Flexibility required due to evolving infrastructure and split north/south delivery
Skills, Experience & Attributes
Essential
- Advanced technical background (IT, electronic or electro‑mechanical)
- Experience supporting complex, software‑enabled systems or simulation environments
- Proven ability to manage and develop technical teams
- Strong fault‑finding, incident management and problem‑solving capability
- Comfortable operating on site and leading from the front
Desirable
- Experience in training environments
- Customer‑facing technical support or service delivery experience
- Understanding of military environments, culture or end‑users
Security & Eligibility
Candidates must be eligible for SC clearance and will be required to provide evidence of identity and right to work in the UK .
