Systems Solutions Engineer - Software/ Hardware
Location: Flexible / Hybrid
Clearance: Must be eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC)
About the Role
Keen to see candidates with a Systems Engineering background, have Principles of Systems Engineering experience, alongside technical management of vendors and suppliers. We have a number of roles to fill and would like to balance the hands-on technical skills with the more systems engineering management skills.
"It's a Systems Solutions Engineering role sitting between architecture and delivery. You'd be designing and integrating complex systems across cloud and on-prem environments, making sure different technologies, platforms, and vendor solutions all work together effectively.
A big part of the role is translating requirements into practical designs, then supporting deployment and integration through DevOps pipelines. You'd also act as the technical bridge with suppliers - reviewing solutions, ensuring compatibility, and helping integrate them into the wider system.
They're looking for someone with strong systems engineering fundamentals, but who's still hands-on enough to get involved in integration, troubleshooting, and delivery in a complex, multi-system environment."
This is more than a job - it's a mission.
As a Systems Solutions Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and integrating complex systems that support the British Army's collective training capability. Sitting at the intersection of architecture and delivery, this role bridges strategic design and hands-on implementation across cloud and on-premise environments.
You will operate within a matrix organisation, reporting operationally through OMNIA Training and functionally to the Cloud & Platform Lead. Working collaboratively across engineering, supply chain, and programme teams, you will help deliver innovative, interoperable solutions that enable the Army to train, fight, and win.
We are looking for individuals who bring a strong Systems Engineering foundation, combined with the ability to remain hands-on in integration, deployment, and troubleshooting in a complex, multi-system environment.
Key Responsibilities
Systems Design & Integration
- Design, deploy, and support integrated system and application solutions across hybrid environments (cloud, on-premise, virtual, and physical)
- Translate operational and technical requirements into scalable architectures and practical solution designs
- Drive integration of diverse platforms, technologies, and third-party/vendor systems into cohesive solutions
- Ensure solutions meet performance, security, reliability, and interoperability standards
Delivery & DevOps
- Support deployment and integration through CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling
- Contribute to system configuration, release management, and operational readiness
- Support system testing, validation, and troubleshooting across development and live environments
Systems Engineering & Technical Governance
- Apply Principles of Systems Engineering to ensure structured, scalable, and robust system design
- Maintain oversight of system lifecycle from discovery through delivery and integration
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, including system designs, integration guides, and deployment procedures
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the technical bridge between internal engineering teams and external suppliers
- Review vendor proposals, validate technical solutions, and ensure alignment with architecture and standards
- Support integration planning and ensure supplier deliverables meet system requirements
- Collaborate with procurement/supply chain teams to translate technical requirements into deliverables
Collaboration
- Work closely with software engineers, network engineers, architects, and programme teams
- Support integration of simulation and training technologies within broader system architecture
- Contribute to continuous improvement and adoption of emerging technologies
