Commercial Data & Systems Analyst
Commercial Data & Systems Analyst - PE-backed accountancy firm
London / Hybrid | £65,000–£90,000 (£100,000 for an exceptional candidate)
Our client is a private equity-backed accountancy and advisory business looking to appoint a Commercial Data & Systems Analyst to take ownership of the firm's finance systems, reporting environment and commercial data.
This is not a generic BI or Data Analyst role.
We're looking for someone who understands how a professional services business operates - how CRM activity becomes revenue, how operational data drives financial reporting, and how systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, IRIS and Xero should work together to provide accurate, real-time management information.
Reporting directly to the COO and working closely with the CFO, Head of Sales and wider leadership team, you'll become the internal owner of the firm's systems and reporting environment, helping connect multiple platforms, improve data quality and deliver the dashboards and insights that underpin commercial decision-making.
Backed by private equity investment, the business is growing rapidly through both organic growth and acquisitions, making this an excellent opportunity to shape how reporting, systems and data evolve across the Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and continuously improve the firm's finance systems and reporting environment across Microsoft Dynamics 365, IRIS, Xero and Power BI.
- Build and maintain integrations between systems using APIs, middleware, native connectors or vendor-supported solutions.
- Design, build and maintain Power BI dashboards and data models that provide meaningful commercial and financial insight.
- Troubleshoot reporting, reconciliation and data quality issues, identifying root causes and implementing permanent solutions.
- Work closely with software vendors to improve existing functionality, implement enhancements and challenge proposed solutions where appropriate.
- Support group reporting, budgeting, forecasting and KPI development for the COO, CFO and Head of Sales.
- Improve business processes through automation and smarter use of existing systems.
- Support systems integration and reporting associated with future acquisitions.
Essential Experience
We're particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
- Experience working within an accountancy practice, legal firm, consulting business or similar professional services organisation.
- Hands-on experience of Microsoft Dynamics 365 together with Xero and/or IRIS.
- Strong Power BI capability, including building dashboards, data models and reporting from multiple data sources.
- Experience integrating multiple business systems through APIs, middleware, Power Automate, Dataverse or vendor-led integrations.
- Strong understanding of finance systems, group reporting and management reporting.
- Experience diagnosing and resolving data, reporting and systems issues from root cause through to implementation.
- Experience managing software vendors and translating business requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work confidently with senior stakeholders.
Desirable Experience
- SQL, Azure Data Factory, Dataverse, Power Query or Power Automate.
- Supporting FP&A, budgeting or forecasting activities.
- Exposure to acquisitive or private equity-backed businesses.
- Systems implementations, process improvements or business transformation programmes.
- Data migration and post-acquisition systems integration.
- ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification (or working towards).
Why Apply?
This is an opportunity to become the internal owner of a growing firm's finance systems and reporting environment.
You'll have direct access to senior leadership, genuine autonomy to improve how the business operates, and the backing to introduce better systems, reporting and processes where required.
If you enjoy connecting systems, solving data problems and building reporting that genuinely influences commercial decisions, we'd love to hear from you.
