Data Governance Lead
Key accountabilities and responsibilities
- Managing and coaching a team of data governance managers.
- Developing a high-performing team with respect and collaboration at its heart.
- Being an advocate data governance and highlighting its importance across the business.
- Leading the development and implementation of data governance frameworks, standards and polices, to ensure data quality, integrity and security across the organisation.
- Aligning data governance with the organisation data strategy and future ways of working.
- Collaborating with Data Owners and Data Stewards to establish and implement data management policies.
- Working with DPO and Information Security to ensure compliance with appropriate policies and procedures.
- Developing and maintaining metrics to measure the effectiveness of data governance polices, along with reporting on key metrics such as data accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, and lineage.
- Providing regular updates and reports on data governance activities to senior management.
- Leading initiatives to improve data quality, data protection, and data life cycle management.
- Overseeing the maintenance and continuous improvement of the data governance framework.
- Acting as a liaison between the Data & Analytics directorate and other business units to promote data governance best practices.
Key skills and knowledge
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks and best practices.
- Proficiency with data governance tools and platforms.
- Experience with data quality management and data stewardship.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to data management and protection.
- Strong project management skills and understanding of Agile best practices and software design principles.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate with senior stakeholders and manage expectations.
- Evidence of adaptability; able to learn new technologies and methodologies quickly.
- Comfortable giving definition to ambiguous problems, can do this independently with limited guidance.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with a focus on fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
- Problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.
