EV Charger Installation Engineer

Location: London and surrounding areas
Job type: Part-time, contract or full-time opportunities available
Pay: Competitive per-install / contract rates depending on experience and setup

We are looking for practical, reliable electrical engineers/electricians to support a growing programme of domestic EV charger installations across London and the surrounding areas.

This opportunity can suit experienced self-employed installers who already operate through their own business, as well as electricians looking to develop further experience within the EV charging sector.

Work can be offered on a flexible basis, including part-time, weekend, contract and potentially full-time arrangements.

For self-employed installers, you would ideally provide your own van and tools. All charger equipment, installation materials and job-specific parts will be supplied, and payment can be made through your business where applicable.

For suitable candidates, there may also be opportunities for a company van and a longer-term contract arrangement.

Typical work will include domestic EV charger installations, routing and terminating EV cable, installing dedicated EV consumer units, working with meter tails and Henley blocks where required, fitting CT clamps/load-management equipment, testing and commissioning chargers, and completing installation evidence and paperwork.

We are looking for someone who is competent, professional with customers and able to work independently once familiar with our installation process.

Minimum requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence, ideally clean
  • Electrical Installation qualification, ideally Level 2 or above
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations preferred
  • Practical electrical installation experience
  • Good understanding of safe isolation and electrical safety
  • Comfortable using hand and power tools
  • Good customer-facing skills
  • Reliable and willing to travel around London and surrounding areas
  • Willingness to learn EV charger installation procedures where further training is required

Previous EV charger installation experience is desirable but not essential for the right person with strong electrical installation experience and a willingness to learn.

Additional qualifications such as Level 3 Electrical Installation, Inspection & Testing, AM2, NVQ Level 3, ECS/JIB cards or existing EV installation experience would be advantageous but are not essential for every position.

We can provide installation work, materials and ongoing support, with the potential for regular work for engineers who perform well.

To apply, please send your CV along with a short summary of:

  • your electrical qualifications;
  • current location;
  • driving licence status;
  • whether you have your own van and tools;
  • EV charger installation experience, if any;
  • and your current availability.
