Application Engineer, Linux, Windows, ION, PowerShell, 12 months rolling
This is a highly technical, front-office-aligned position supporting complex, low-latency electronic trading environments on a global scale.
The Team- Global production support team covering London, New York, Montreal, Singapore, and Mumbai
- Responsible for over 800 Windows and Linux servers supporting Rates & Credit trading platforms
- Manages connectivity to major electronic trading venues including CME, Eurex, ICE, MTS, Brokertec, Bloomberg, Tradeweb, MarketAxess, and Euronext
- Primary responsibility for global support of the ION platform, in-house pricing systems, algorithmic trading components, and STP flows
- Production systems located mainly in London, New York, Singapore, and Tokyo
- Operates a follow-the-sun support model
You will take ownership of a set of applications and technologies within the eTrading environment, becoming a subject-matter expert while ensuring platform stability, performance, and ongoing improvement.
The role involves a shift-based rota covering 7:00am to 6:00pm, with occasional - 50% of your working week onsite.
Key Responsibilities- Day-to-day production management including monitoring, capacity management, incident resolution, and change management
- Rapid and efficient resolution of production issues, minimising impact to trading desks and internal users
- Close collaboration with developers, business analysts, architects, infrastructure teams, and external vendors
- Support implementation and rollout of upgrades and enhancements to existing services
- Design, set up, and improve platforms with a focus on resilience, high availability, performance, and low latency
- Coordinate and manage changes with trading venues, ECNs, and third-party providers
- Plan, schedule, implement, and document release and change activities
- Maintain high-quality documentation and share knowledge across the global team
- Strong experience supporting production systems in electronic trading environments
- Excellent Linux and Windows operating system expertise
- Broad IT background covering servers, networks, and firewalls
- Ability to analyse CPU, memory, network/NIC, and multicast performance
- Scripting experience in one or more of: PowerShell, Shell, Python, SQL
- CI/CD and automation experience with Jenkins, Ansible, and Artifactory
- Application support experience with Java, C++ and/or .NET
- Proven ability to deliver medium-scale technical projects
- Operating system performance tuning
- Experience with ION trading technology
- Multicast messaging expertise
- Monitoring tools such as Geneos or Zabbix
- Log and data analysis using Splunk
