Business Analyst
Location: Belfast, Northern Ireland (Hybrid - 3 days in the office)
Rate: £450 - £475 per day
Contract: Initial 9 months, with a view to extend
We are looking for a technically strong Business Analyst with excellent SQL skills to join a major financial services organisation's Markets Transformation team.
This is an opportunity to work on high-impact data initiatives, partnering with Front Office stakeholders and technology teams to deliver smarter data solutions, enhance reporting capabilities and drive business change.
You'll combine hands-on SQL development with stakeholder engagement and project delivery, taking ownership of complex data requests and helping shape solutions from initial requirements through to implementation.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, execute and optimise complex SQL queries, including data extraction, reconciliation and performance tuning.
- Engage with Front Office stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective data solutions.
- Identify opportunities to improve data quality, reporting processes and operational efficiency.
- Produce business and functional requirements, technical documentation and UAT test plans.
- Coordinate project deliverables, manage milestones and track progress through Jira.
- Collaborate with technology teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement across data quality, code standards and delivery processes.
- 5+ years' experience in Technical Business Analysis or a similar data-focused role.
- Strong SQL skills, with the ability to work independently in complex database environments.
- Knowledge of data warehousing, ETL and data integration.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience managing multiple priorities and delivering to tight deadlines.
- A proactive, analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities.
Desirable: Financial services or capital markets experience, Python, Tableau, Hive, Impala, Spark and broader big data technologies.
