Senior Java Technical Lead - Low Latency E-Trading (eFX)

The Opportunity

We're partnered with a leading global investment bank, seeking a Senior Technical Lead Java Developer to join their Front Office eFX Pricing & Platform Team.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll work directly with Quants and Traders to engineer ultra-low-latency trading systems. You'll combine advanced Java engineering with strategic input into platform architecture, optimisation, and scalability-delivering business-critical solutions used daily in electronic trading.

• Designing and building low-latency, multi-threaded Java applications for market making and pricing.

• Developing and optimising pricing algorithms, order management, and execution logic.

• Engineering algo containers and ultra-low-latency applications using TCP/IP, UDP, and GC tuning.

• Driving automation, performance optimisation, scalability, and resilience across platforms.

• Leading complex technical initiatives across multiple feature teams.

• Partnering closely with Front Office stakeholders to deliver impactful trading technology.

• Deep expertise in Java with proven experience in ultra-low-latency, high-performance systems.

• Strong background in electronic trading (ideally eFX) with pricing engines, algos, or order management systems.

• Skilled in multi-threading, GC tuning, TCP/UDP protocols, and performance optimisation.

• Experience with test-driven development, automation frameworks, and Agile/DevOps.

• Ability to provide technical leadership and influence architecture/strategy.

• £160,000-£180,000 base salary

• Circa 20% cash/benefits allowance

• Hybrid working - just 2 days per month onsite
