DCS Engineer

Mech Tech Professionals have an opportunity available for a Distributed Control Systems (DCS) Engineer to apprehend a full-time position based in Kent. 

Our client, one of the UK's most prestigious Waste and resource management companies, requires an experienced professional to join their team as soon as possible or upon availability. 

Overview

As a DCS Engineer, your primary duties will be to lead and maintain the client's Distributed Control Systems that are critical to plant operations at an Energy from Waste Facility. This will include managing upgrades, troubleshooting technical issues and playing a vital role in ensuring system security and efficiency.

This vacancy is a full-time position working 5 days per week.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and maintaining the clients DCS systems and site-wide systems
  • Perform troubleshooting and implement control system repairs 
  • Lead and deliver process upgrade projects 
  • Keep comprehensive records and backups of the systems and modifications 
  • Support field systems such as turbine & emissions control systems 
  • Support maintenance teams and contractors as and when required 
  • Administer system access and ensure the security of logic controls
  • Other 

Candidate requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience within the Energy from waste industry and/or Power, Cement or Paper
  • Qualifications held within a technical discipline 
  • Great understanding of control systems, ideally Yokogawa Centum VP and Exaquantum
  • Proficiency with PLC's, Siemens Simatic Step7 and industrial communication protocols 
  • Experience with CMMS (ideally Q4) and preventative/predictive maintenance 
  • Detail orientated, self-motivated and proactive problem skills
