My client is a specialist B2B media and business intelligence publisher within Business, Finance & Governance sectors, due to increasing demand a new role for a Senior Reporter with AI focus has been created.

Role Summary... The senior reporter (content & events) will be responsible for reporting on the latest developments affecting their audiences, moderating events and webinars and then producing editorial content on the discussions. The successful candidate will be responsible for improving the frequency and quality of their output and for building the systems that allow a small team to produce timely, error-free editorial content to a high standard, ideally the person will have knowledge of AI and automation to improve their systems and processes.

Covering the latest industry developments

  • Research, analyse, write and edit high-quality copy every day, across concise updates.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with our community and editorial board so that their coverage continues to be relevant to the evolving needs of our audience
  • Exercise editorial judgment and review our content to ensure that everything they produce is publishable, error-free and credible
  • Review and edit the work of colleagues and external expert contributors, bringing it up to publication standard
  • Obtain quotes and insights from sources that our audience respects and wants to hear from

Managing automation, artificial intelligence and editorial systems

  • Implement systems that improve the efficiency and quality of our reporting from monitoring developments and drafting copy to automating outreach
  • Build, pilot, run, train and fine-tune the tools used to assist editorial output and provide oversight of the responsible use of AI
  • Develop and own the editorial policy governing the use of artificial intelligence, including its permitted uses, its prohibited uses, disclosure standards and accountability
  • Apply an understanding of how AI-mediated search and answer engine optimization (AEO) affect what is found, read and cited, and use that understanding to grow visibility and readership while protecting subscription revenues

Live journalism: events, webinars and video

  • Plan and moderate webinars end to end, from proposing timely topics and recruiting speakers to preparing questions, running the session and filing a follow-up article within 24 hours
  • Moderate at in-person events, including international travel, across formats that include one-day conferences, half-day workshops and award evenings
  • Conduct and present video interviews with senior figures and host content across our formats, including the opportunity to feature on our podcasts
  • Produce one long-form video interview each month, known as a ‘masterclass’, that provides subscribers with deep insight that will help them in their roles
  • Conduct video interviews and vox pops at our award events to showcase award winners

Essential experience and skills

  • Three or more years’ experience in journalism, including B2B or trade media
  • Superior writing and editing skills, with strong storytelling, a keen eye for detail and a record of producing clean, error-free copy to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience moderating events and interviewing senior leaders
  • Practical media law knowledge and experience in overseeing published materials
  • Demonstrable AI fluency and experience in building AI tools for editorial work
  • A genuine interest in artificial intelligence and its role in publishing
  • The ability to work well independently and as part of a small team
  • Sound editorial judgment that can be explained and defended
