AI & Wireless Communication Systems Internship 2026

Job Description

MediaTek is excited to offer a hands-on internship for talented students passionate about the intersection of AI and wireless technology. Join our top-tier R&D team and gain experience in design, modeling, and verification of state-of-the-art cellular systems—including 5G/6G standards—using AI and machine learning to optimize device performance.

You will…

  • Problem- solving and creative/analytical skills.
  • Quick learner, self-motivated, able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Be self-motivated and able to work both in a team and autonomously.
  • Have programming experience (ideally in Python, C or C++)
  • Familiarity with AI and machine learning concepts.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

In addition, one or more of the below would be brilliant (but not essential).

  • Good mathematical skills
  • Exposure to wireless communication system.
  • Skills in data and visualization tools.
  • Good system-level design and understanding of dataflow management in communications systems.

Duration

Full time internship with the duration of 9 to 12 months long, 2026.

Location

This internship will be at our Cambourne, Cambridgeshire office, based 9 miles outside Cambridge city centre (with frequent direct bus services). Cambridge is also conveniently located within one hour from Central London, four main London airports and The Eurostar.
