Junior Graphics Designer
About Medly AI
We're the fastest growing EdTech startup in London, on a mission to change education forever.
This is a moment where AI-native companies are reshaping entire industries, from Cursor in code, to Midjourney in image generation, to Harvey in law. Medly is building that company for education.
Since launch, we've reached over 400,000 students with retention rates that beat Duolingo, and we've delivered personalised learning with real results. We're backed by impact-focused VCs and supported by partners including UCL, Innovate UK, Microsoft, and Google.
The role
We're looking for a Junior Graphic Designer to join our London team, full-time and on-site. You'll work directly alongside our founders, our designers, and our engineering and growth teams, designing across both product and marketing.
This is a genuinely broad role. One day you're designing UI for a feature that hundreds of thousands of students will use, the next you're producing campaign assets, social creative, and brand collateral. You'll be the person who makes everything Medly puts into the world look considered and consistent.
It's also a role with a clear path. As you grow, you'll take on more ownership of our brand identity itself - the type, colour, illustration, iconography, and visual rules that define how Medly looks and feels everywhere. We want someone who starts by executing beautifully and ends up shaping the system.
The best people in this role notice the half-pixel misalignment, have strong opinions about typography, and can explain why one layout feels right and another doesn't.
What you'll do
Design UI for new and existing features in our learning app, working closely with product and engineering
Produce marketing and brand assets - social, paid creative, landing pages, decks, print, merch, event and partner collateral
Work within our existing brand and design system in Figma, and help extend and maintain it
Take briefs from rough idea to finished, production-ready artwork, at pace
Develop our visual identity over time - typography, colour, illustration, iconography, and the rules that hold it together
Adapt and scale designs across formats, platforms, and sizes without losing the detail
Take feedback from the team, users, and performance data, and use it to make the work better
What we're looking for
A portfolio of graphic, brand, or visual design work (academic, personal, freelance, or placement all count) that shows genuine taste - considered layout, typography, colour, and attention to detail
A degree (completed or in progress) from a leading university - we weight academic strength heavily, and especially like hybrid backgrounds where design sits alongside a rigorous subject
Recent graduate, or up to around 2 years of experience.
Freelance or client work done alongside study or early in your career - it tells us you can take a brief, work to a deadline, and ship
Strong fundamentals - hierarchy, grid, type, colour, and composition
Confident in Figma, and comfortable in the Adobe suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) or equivalent
Genuinely keen to learn fast and take feedback well
Bonus points
Both digital product UI and brand/marketing work in the same portfolio
Experience contributing to a brand identity or design system, not just individual assets
Illustration, iconography, or motion (After Effects, Rive, Lottie) skills
A little front-end knowledge (HTML/CSS) or comfort working closely with engineers
Freelance clients with a recognisable name or a real bar for quality
B2C, app, or consumer brand work
Who thrives here
You care about quality and take pride in work that holds up under scrutiny
You have a point of view on what good design looks like, and can defend it
You work fast without letting the craft slip
Happy to take initiative. If something looks off, you flag it or fix it
Comfortable in a startup environment. Things move very quickly and priorities shift often.
What you'll get
Mentorship from our designers and direct work with our founders
On-site in our central London office, as part of a close-knit team
The chance to shape how a product used by hundreds of thousands of students looks and feels
A team that takes your ideas seriously and ships them
Real ownership and room to grow quickly, including into brand identity ownership
