Menlo Security is looking for an Engineer to join our performance team. This team makes sure our global cloud deployment is operating efficiently and at peak performance, managing our cloud hosting cost base across AWS and GCP, identifying how we can provide the best possible experience for our customers in the most efficient way. The work this team does is a vital part of our secure enterprise browser experience whilst also having a direct impact on our bottom line. The ideal candidate is eager to learn more about security, has a background as a software engineer with experience of networked Linux systems. Our main focus is performing analysis and working closely with other teams to design and implement solutions. What You’ll Do
- Analyzing the performance of our production systems.
- Participate in all aspects of designing, building and delivering solutions, learning from senior engineers
- Designing and running load/stress programs, and ensuring that we have the right software tools for performance testing and analysis. This may require custom tools that we develop.
- Identify and resolve software defects by reviewing log errors and metrics
- Research new technologies to enhance our products
- Write unit tests and automated tests to ensure code quality
- Conduct code and design reviews for peers
- You are a software developer with experience using one or more programming languages such as Python, Rust, C++, Go, JS / NodeJS
- Experience with Linux and cloud platforms like AWS and GCP
- Passionate about optimizing and scaling large, complex systems
- Strong ability to learn quickly and think about complex problems analytically
- Understanding of TCP/IP and major protocols such as DNS and TLS
- You have a degree in Computer Science or a related field
- You have experience with software development in a Linux environment
- You are proactive, self-motivated, and can learn new things with little guidance
- You are highly organized and thorough, with critical attention to detail and documentation
- Proven experience building large scale web applications and REST APIs
- Experience with network protocols
- Deep understanding of Linux
- Knowledge of web application frameworks and test automation
- Experience with containers, docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with cloud infrastructure development technologies such as Terraform
