Production Test Engineer
Location: Bolton
Contract Length: 12 months (likely extension)
Security Clearance: SC required - can start on BPSS
Working Pattern: Full time (potential for limited hybrid working depending on business needs)
Pay Rate: 34 - 37 per hour Umbrella

The Role
We are looking for an experienced Production Test Engineer to join a manufacturing team supporting the test and diagnosis of complex electronic and electrical systems. This is a hands-on role based within a production environment, working closely with manufacturing, quality and design teams to ensure products are tested, diagnosed and released efficiently and to a high standard.
You will support both development and in-production testing, acting as a technical authority when issues arise and ensuring manufacturing can continue with minimal disruption.
Key Responsibilities
Provide test engineering support to production and development activities
Carry out testing of electronic and electrical systems and sub-assemblies
Diagnose test failures down to PCB and component level
Identify root causes and define corrective and remedial actions
Support the introduction and configuration control of test equipment and facilities
Produce and maintain test specifications, procedures and operator instructions
Support defect investigations and contribute to review boards where required
Work closely with manufacturing and quality teams to improve test efficiency and robustness
What We're Looking For
HNC or HND in an Engineering discipline (Electronics preferred)
Strong hands-on experience in test engineering within a manufacturing environment
Proven ability to diagnose complex electronic faults down to component level
Solid understanding of electronic measurement and test principles
Experience writing technical documentation such as test procedures and reports
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
Desirable Experience
Defence or aerospace background (not essential)
Exposure to RF, microwave or environmental testing
Experience supporting production in a regulated or safety-critical environment
