About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic and commercially driven Sales Lead for our Wind & Solar Forecasting Solutions.
Harnessing our highly regarded existing technology platform, this is a new role within MetDesk focused on driving revenue for our suite of ML-based wind and solar forecasting products. These products target utilities, IPPs, traders, grid operators, and asset managers.
Our unique blend of technology enables us to deliver exceptionally accurate power forecasts - from five minutes ahead to weeks ahead - supporting both short-term operational decisions and longer-term strategic planning.
You will own the sales strategy and leverage our existing relationships across the energy sector to build key customer relationships in the renewables market.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the commercial strategy for wind and solar forecasting products.
- Identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities across renewable asset owners, utilities, traders, and balancing parties.
- Lead complex B2B sales cycles from prospecting through trials, evaluation, contract negotiation, implementation, and close.
- Build and manage a strong sales pipeline with accurate forecasting and CRM reporting.
- Collaborate with product, analytics, and marketing teams to refine value propositions, customer messaging, and the sales journey.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and client meetings.
- Provide market intelligence on customer needs, pricing trends, and competitor positioning.
Required Qualifications
- Experience (3+ years) in B2B energy, renewables, power markets, or energy analytics sales.
- Proven track record of closing high-value, multi-year contracts, preferably within renewables or weather forecasting markets.
- Strong understanding of wind and solar forecasting, grid operations, imbalance risk, and energy trading.
- Experience selling SaaS, data, or analytics products.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
Preferred Experience
- Existing network within renewable IPPs, utilities, traders, or aggregators.
- Experience with PPA structures, balancing markets, and ancillary services.
- Familiarity with forecasting accuracy metrics (MAE, RMSE, P50/P90).
- International sales experience across multiple energy markets.
