UX Designer
User-Centered Discovery
Conduct user research in collaboration with user researchers for the Funeral Expense Payment - Transformation and Refactoring project
Map user journeys across services to identify pain points and opportunities.
Understand the needs of diverse users, including those with accessibility needs or low digital confidence.
Designing for End-to-End Services
Design interactions that span multiple touchpoints (eg, web, phone, paper).
Ensure consistency across services while adapting to specific user contexts.
Work closely with User researchers, Content designers, Product Managers to align with the product/service requirements.
Prototyping and Iteration
Create low- to high-fidelity prototypes using GOV.UK Design System components.
Test designs with real users and iterate based on feedback.
Use tools like Lucid, Mural or GitHub for prototyping.
Accessibility and Inclusion
Design to meet or exceed WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
Ensure services are usable by people with a wide range of abilities and assistive technologies.
Collaborate with accessibility specialists and conduct accessibility audits.
Collaboration Across Disciplines
Work in agile, multidisciplinary teams with developers, content designers, product managers, and policy experts.
Participate in ceremonies like stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
Advocate for design decisions with evidence from user research and usability testing.
Adhering to GOV.UK Standards
Follow the GOV.UK Service Standard and Design Principles.
Contribute to and reuse patterns from the GOV.UK Design System
