DevOps Engineer

Metric Bio are proud to continue supporting one of our longest-standing partners, a pioneering medical device company whose technology is directly saving lives. Their platform has already been used in over 7,000 life-critical transplant procedures worldwide. Backed by a global healthcare leader and spun out of a world-renowned UK university, this is a rare opportunity to build and own the engineering infrastructure behind software that genuinely matters.

They are looking for a DevOps Engineer to design, implement and manage an IEC 62304 compliant CI/CD pipeline across the full software development lifecycle. You will own the toolchain, drive automation and work closely with embedded, digital and data science teams in a regulated medical device environment.

What you will be doing:

  • Designing, implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for build, test and deployment in line with IEC 62304, IEC 13485 and FDA regulations
  • Automating build, packaging and release processes to produce repeatable and fully traceable artefacts
  • Managing version control, branching strategies, pull requests and peer review enforcement
  • Provisioning and maintaining cloud, on-premise or hybrid infrastructure including containerisation with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Supporting traceability from requirements through to code, build and deployment for audit and regulatory review
  • Coaching cross-functional teams on DevOps best practices and enabling developer productivity through self-service tooling
  • Contributing to root cause analysis, incident response and continuous improvement of infrastructure reliability
  • What we are looking for:

    • Proven experience building and maintaining DevOps infrastructure for safety critical or regulated software, ideally under IEC 62304; aerospace or automotive backgrounds are also welcome
    • Strong hands on experience with Git, Azure DevOps and pipeline as code using YAML
    • Scripting proficiency in PowerShell, Python or Bash for build automation and deployment workflows
    • Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi or Bicep
    • Understanding of software tool qualification obligations, design control and DHF documentation
    • A security conscious approach to infrastructure, applying least privilege principles and handling secrets with appropriate rigour
    • Degree in Computer Science or a relevant engineering discipline

Apply if you want to use your technical skills to make a genuinely positive impact!
