Chief Finance & Central Services Officer

The Raystede Finance & Central Services team covers Finance, IT and insurance. This includes control of all the financial functions for the charity and subsidiary trading companies including accounting, payroll, investment management and external audit. The section manages all financial resources including the legal aspects of our land and assets, the ICT function and this role makes a major contribution to the H&S function and facilities strategy.

I'm pleased to be exclusively partnering with Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare in recruiting for a Chief Finance & Central Services Officer. Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare, established in 1952, is a charity that aims to give animals a better life through rehoming, rehabilitation and sanctuary, and give people the support and knowledge they need to treat animals with care and respect. We care for more than 400 animals every day, including cats, horses, dogs, rabbits, hens and exotic birds. We help most of the animals find new homes but also provide life-long sanctuary for those animals that cannot be rehomed.

Description

The Chief Finance & Central Services Officer provides strategic leadership across Finance and ICT, ensuring strong financial management, effective governance, robust risk management, and secure technology services. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, they support the CEO in delivering organisational strategy, long-term sustainability, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead financial strategy, business planning, forecasting and risk management.
  • Oversee budgeting, financial controls, management accounts, statutory reporting and audits.
  • Manage key financial relationships, including auditors, investment managers, payroll and pension providers.
  • Provide financial insight and advice to the CEO, Board and senior leaders.
  • Lead the ICT function through the ICT Manager, ensuring secure, effective and cost-efficient technology services.
  • Oversee cyber security, ICT strategy and technology budgets.
  • Maintain responsibility for insurance, compliance and relevant Health & Safety matters.
  • Contribute to organisational leadership and long-term business planning as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Profile

A successful Chief Finance & Central Services Officer should have:

* Full UK Driving Licence (6 points max)

* CIMA, ACA or ACCA qualified

* Current membership of the relevant financial professional body.

* Substantial experience in similar managerial and leadership role

* Experience of business planning and financial strategy.

* Knowledge and experience of financial planning, control, governance reporting.

* Understanding of risk management.

* Experience of managing a finance team.

* Excellent knowledge of financial management information and reporting systems.

* Knowledge of insurance.

* Relevant and current knowledge of Health & Safety and Wellbeing law and good practice.

* Knowledge of SORP.

* Experience of Sage 50

* Experience in an animal welfare environment.

* Experience of working at a charity.

Job Offer

  • Salary between £55,000 and £57,000, dependent on the level of experience.
