Description

We are looking for an Interim IT Auditor to perform External IT audits Across the Public Sector in Wales.

The role will support the delivery of IT audits by:

  • Providing support to the IT audit manager on the day-to-day delivery of accounts IT audit work at larger, more complex and higher risk audits;
  • Leading the day-to-day delivery of accounts IT audit work for small to medium sized, less complex Audited Bodies; and
  • Supporting the delivery of a program of value for money, arrangements and studies IT and digital audit work at Audited Bodies as overseen by the IT audit manager.

Mixed portfolio of work:

  • Mainly supporting the IT Audit Manager in the delivery of large, complex and/or high-risk audits across the Welsh public sector within agreed timescales, budgets and in accordance with the Financial Audit Delivery Manual (FADM) and ISAs. As directed by the IT Audit Manager, this may involve supporting the oversight and review of IT audit work undertaken by other auditors within the audit team.
  • As directed by the IT Audit Manager, you may also be required to carry out IT audit work on account audits, which may include complex and high-risk IT systems. Accountable to the IT Audit Manager, the IT Senior Auditor works operationally, day to day to the IT Financial Audit Lead.
  • You will also be expected to lead and deliver small to medium sized, less complex IT audit work on financial audits, and within agreed timescales, budgets and in accordance with the FADM and ISAs.
  • For audits that you lead, you will be expected to set the IT audit approach required, provide support and feedback to the staff working to you where required; ensuring that auditors have completed the required IT audit work, are sufficiently motivated and have clear direction.
  • You will be expected to support the IT audit manager in the design and delivery of audit training to upskill auditors on IT audit matters and be available to support auditors across all teams in the implementation of IT audit approaches.
  • Supporting the design and delivery of a program of Performance IT and digital audit work, contribute to the audit approach taken, project planning and set up and then leading on the delivery of fieldwork, co-ordinating emerging messages and conclusions through to drafting report outputs.

Profile

A successful Senior IT Auditor should have:

  • Experience in IT auditing, including assessing systems and controls.
  • CISA, ACA, ACCA, CIPFA qualified ideally
  • A good understanding of public sector regulations and IT compliance standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Relevant professional qualifications in IT auditing or a related field.

Job Offer

  • Daily rate of £256 to £296 per day via an umbrella company.
  • Hybrid working arrangement, offering flexibility between office and remote work.
  • 3 month initial contract
