Senior Legal Counsel
The Senior Legal Counsel will provide expert legal support to the industrial/manufacturing sector, ensuring compliance and mitigating risks. This role is based in Oxford and focuses on delivering strategic guidance on commercial contracts and legal matters.

Description
- Provide legal advice across a range of matters including mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, commercial contracts (sales and procurement), intellectual property, information technology, and litigation, with minimal supervision.
- Advise on general property matters & leases, this excludes any conveyancing and complex specialist real estate matters, which are outsourced.
- Support senior legal leadership in reviewing tenders and contracts for various business units.
- Apply sound legal and commercial judgement to proposed transactions, partnerships, and compliance-related matters.
- Manage external legal counsel to ensure timely, cost-effective advice within budget constraints.
- Offer strategic guidance to operational teams on dispute resolution prior to formal legal proceedings.
- Ideally, provide regulatory advice including international trade controls and data privacy compliance.
Profile
Must be a qualified solicitor or barrister in the UK (or a common law jurisdiction), with a minimum of 8-10 years post-qualification experience, including in-house legal experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Proven ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines independently or collaboratively within a team.
Demonstrated expertise in key legal areas including:
- Mergers & acquisitions
- Corporate law
- Property and construction law
- Commercial contracts (sales and procurement)
- Intellectual property
- Information technology
- Data security
- Litigation
Excellent skills in structuring, drafting, and negotiating legal documents.
Capable of managing a substantial workload in a fast-paced environment.
Able to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively to non-legal stakeholders.
Experience in developing risk-based legal solutions to support complex business transactions.
