Description
Key Responsibilities for the Area Sales Manager:-
You will be responsible for managing and growing sales across the South of the UK, developing relationships with both existing customers and new prospects. The position will involve working closely with security installers, systems integrators, distributors, consultants, specifiers and selected end users to identify opportunities and increase the specification and adoption of the company's technology.
This is not simply a transactional sales position. You will act as a trusted commercial and technical partner, helping customers understand how the company's sensing technologies can solve real-world security challenges. You will support opportunities from initial identification and specification through to product selection, demonstration, quotation and successful project delivery.
The role offers a strong blend of account management, business development, project sales and market engagement. You will inherit an existing customer base, while also being expected to proactively create new opportunities and expand the company's presence within key vertical markets.
Territory and Account Development
- Take full commercial ownership of the South of the UK, developing and implementing a structured territory sales plan.
- Manage, retain and grow relationships with existing security installers, systems integrators, distributors and other channel partners.
- Identify and secure new customers across the electronic security market.
- Increase sales of the company's intrusion detection, perimeter protection and advanced sensing solutions.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the territory, including key customers, competitors, projects and regional market opportunities.
- Build effective account plans for strategically important customers and prospects.
- Establish a consistent programme of customer meetings, site visits, product demonstrations and commercial reviews.
- Maintain regular contact with customers to understand their pipelines, technical requirements and future business plans.
New Business Development
- Proactively identify new opportunities with security installers, systems integrators, consultants, specifiers and end users.
- Generate your own appointments and build a sustainable pipeline of short, medium and long-term opportunities.
- Target projects across sectors such as commercial property, logistics, warehousing, retail, transport, utilities, infrastructure, data centres, education and high-security environments.
- Use a consultative sales approach to understand customer challenges and recommend the most appropriate solution.
- Develop relationships at multiple levels within customer organisations, including business owners, sales teams, technical managers, project engineers and procurement contacts.
- Convert competitor accounts by demonstrating the performance, reliability and commercial value of the company's technology.
- Work with channel partners to identify joint opportunities and support them in winning new projects.
Profile
The successful Area Sales Manager will be a proactive and commercially focused sales professional who enjoys developing long-term customer relationships while also creating new business.
You are likely to have experience selling technical products or solutions through a combination of installers, integrators, distributors, contractors, consultants or end users.
Experience within electronic security would be highly advantageous, particularly in areas such as:
- Intruder alarms and intrusion detection
- Perimeter security
- CCTV and video surveillance
- Access control
- Integrated security systems
- Fire and security
- Intelligent building technologies
- Electrical or electronic products
- Sensors, automation or detection equipment
Candidates from adjacent technical markets will also be considered, provided they can demonstrate a strong track record in field sales, channel development or specification-led selling.
