PMO Lead
An exciting opportunity for an experienced PMO Lead to drive governance, control and delivery excellence across a diverse change and transformation portfolio. This senior role combines strategic portfolio oversight with hands-on PMO leadership, ensuring projects are delivered in a controlled, transparent and commercially effective manner while championing AI-enabled productivity, automation and continuous improvement.

Description
- Lead and continuously improve PMO governance frameworks, standards and methodologies.
- Provide portfolio-wide governance, assurance and delivery oversight.
- Coordinate steering committees, portfolio reviews and executive reporting cycles.
- Manage and report on portfolio risks, issues, dependencies and key decisions.
- Own portfolio financial management, forecasting, budgeting and expenditure tracking.
- Support investment governance, CapEx oversight and benefits tracking.
- Produce high-quality management information and executive-level reporting.
- Analyse portfolio performance and identify areas requiring intervention.
- Oversee resource planning, capacity management and workforce optimisation.
- Drive improvements in reporting quality, forecasting accuracy and delivery performance.
- Implement and enhance portfolio management tools, reporting automation and controls.
- Promote lessons learned and continuous improvement across the change function.
- Support the adoption of AI productivity tools and automated PMO processes.
- Ensure auditability, traceability and appropriate governance of AI-enabled solutions.
Profile
A successful PMO Lead should have:
- Significant experience leading a PMO within a complex change or transformation environment.
- Proven success managing large-scale project and programme portfolios.
- Strong governance, assurance and project control expertise.
- Extensive financial management experience, including forecasting, budgeting and CapEx governance.
- Experience producing executive and steering committee reporting.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Experience managing risks, issues, dependencies and portfolio controls.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Practical experience using AI productivity tools to improve PMO or portfolio operations.
- Experience designing or implementing workflow automation and reporting solutions.
- Strong understanding of auditability, evidence retention, traceability and data lineage.
- Relevant certification such as P3O, MSP, PRINCE2, PMP or PMO Certification.
Desirable:
- Experience within financial services, banking or other regulated environments.
- Knowledge of regulatory change delivery.
- Experience with Power BI, Jira, Planview, Clarity or similar portfolio management tools.
- Understanding of project accounting, investment governance and benefits management.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 Copilot, Power Automate or equivalent automation platforms.
- Awareness of responsible AI, information security and data protection requirements.
Job Offer
- Daily rate of £450 to £550, dependent on the level of experience.
- Interim position within the financial services industry.
- Based in London, offering a central and accessible location.
